"An air traffic controller from Washington has testified seeing on radar an object flying at about 800 kilometers per hour, moving initially toward the White House, then turning sharply toward the Pentagon, where it seemed to crash. The air traffic controller has testified that the characteristics of the flight were such that it could only have been a military projectile.

Several hundred witnesses have claimed that they head "a shrill noise like the noise of a fighter-bomber", but nothing like the noise of a civilian aircraft.

Eye-witnesses have said that they saw "something like a cruise missile with wings" or a small flying object "like a plane carrying eight or twelve persons".

The flying object penetrated the building without causing major damage to the façade. It crossed several of the building rings of the Pentagon, creating in each wall it pierced a progressively bigger hole. The final hole, perfectly circular, measured about one meter eighty in diameter. When traversing the first ring of the Pentagon, the object set off a fire, as gigantic as it was sudden. Huge flames burst from the building licking the façades, then they shrank back just as fast, leaving behind a cloud of black soot. The fire spread through a part of the first ring and along two perpendicular corridors. It was so sudden that the fire protection system could not react.

All these testimonies and observations correspond to the effects of an AGM[air to ground missile]-86C of the third (most recent) generation of CALCM [conventional air launched cruise missile — see picture at http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/smart/agm-86c.htm ], equipped with depleted uranium warheads and guided by GPS [global positioning system]. This type of missile, seen from the side, would easily remind one of a small civilian airplane, but it is not a plane. It produces a shrill whistle comparable to that of a fighter-bomber, can be guided with enough accuracy to be directed through a window, can pierce the most resistant armor and can set off a fire - independent of its piercing effect - that will generate heat of over 2,000° Celsius.

This type of missile was developed jointly by the Navy and the Air Force and is fired from a plane. The missile used against the Pentagon destroyed the part of the building where the new Supreme Naval Command Center was being installed. Following the attack, the Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Vern Walters, failed to show up in the crisis room of the National Military Joint Intelligence Center when the other members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff reported there. Instead, he abruptly left the Pentagon.

Who, then, could have fired such a missile on the Pentagon? The answer was given by the off-the-record revelations of Ari Fleischer, the White House spokesman, and by Karl Rove, senior advisor to the president, to journalists from the New York Times and the Washington Post. Eighteen days later, these men discounted the veracity of the information they had given the journalists, claiming that they had been speaking under the stress of great emotion."

Le journaliste de CNN spécialisé dans les questions militaires Jamie McIntyre, qui possède un bureau au Pentagone et se trouvait sur place le matin du 11 septembre 2001, rapporte face à la caméra ses premières impressions après une inspection visuelle méticuleuse du lieu de l’impact. The only sight is the actual side of the building that’s crashed in. And as I said, the only pieces left that you can see are small enough that you pick up in your hand. There are no large tail sections, wing sections, fuselage, nothing like that anywhere around which would indicate that the entire plane crashed into the side of the Pentagon and then caused the side to collapse.
Even though if you look at the pictures of the Pentagon you see that the floors have all collapsed, that didn’t happen immediately. It wasn’t until almost about 45 minutes later that the structure was weakened enough that all of the floors collapsed. »

On constate ainsi que le matin du 11 septembre 2001, CNN affirmait qu’il n’existait aucune preuve sur place qu’un avion s’était écrasé sur le Pentagone. Pourtant, 3 jours plus tard Jamie McIntyre affirmait catégoriquement qu’il s’agissait bien d’un avion.

Scott Forbes était Administrateur de base de données pour FIDUCIARY TRUST et travaillait dans la tour sud du WTC.
Scott a été témoin d’une coupure de courant très inhabituelle de 36 heures dans la section supérieure du WTC2 le week end précédant le 11 Septembre. De nombreux techniciens ont été vus  avec des rouleaux de câble et des boites à outils.

SF : A cause d’une coupure de courant signalée par les autorités. Le courant allait être coupé pour une durée de 36 heures dans la moitié supérieure de la tour, et comme je travaille dans le Technology Group pour une banque et une institution financière, je travaillais sur l’extinction et la remise en service probables de tous nos systèmes.

    The cabal of war fanatics advising the White House secretly planned a “transformation” of defense policy years ago, calling for war against Iraq and huge increases in military spending. A “catalyzing event — like a new Pearl Harbor”—was seen as necessary to bring this about.



    Exclusive to American Free Press

    A neo-conservative Washington-based organization known as the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), funded by three foundations closely tied to Persian Gulf oil and weapons and defense industries, drafted the war plan for U.S. global domination through military power.

    One of the organization’s documents clearly shows that Bush and his most senior cabinet members had already planned an attack on Iraq before he took power in January 2001.

    The PNAC was founded in the spring of 1997 by the well-known Zionist neo-conservatives Robert Kagan and William Kristol of The Weekly Standard.

    The PNAC is part of the New Citizenship Project, whose chairman is also William Kristol, and is described as “a non-profit, educational organization whose goal is to promote American global leadership.”

    Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Jeb Bush, and Paul Wolfowitz signed a Statement of Principles of the PNAC on June 3, 1997, along with many of the other current members of Bush’s “war cabinet.”

    Wolfowitz was one of the directors of PNAC until he joined the Bush administration.

    The group’s essential demand was for hefty increases in defense spending. “We need to increase defense spending significantly if we are to carry out our global responsibilities today and modernize our armed forces for the future,” the statement’s first principle reads.

    The increase in defense spending is to bring about two of the other principles: “to challenge regimes hostile to our interests and values” and “to accept responsibility for America’s unique role in preserving and extending an international order friendly to our security, our prosperity, and our principles.”

    A subsequent PNAC plan entitled “Rebuilding America’s Defenses: Strategies, Forces and Resources for a New Century,” reveals that the current members of Bush’s cabinet had already planned, before the 2000 presidential election, to take military control of the Gulf region whether Saddam Hussein is in power or not.

    The 90-page PNAC document from September 2000 says: “The United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein.”

    “Even should Saddam pass from the scene,” the plan says U.S. military bases in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait will remain, despite domestic opposition in the Gulf states to the permanent stationing of U.S. troops. Iran, it says, “may well prove as large a threat to U.S. interests as Iraq has.”

    A “core mission” for the transformed U.S. military is to “fight and decisively win multiple, simultaneous major theater wars,” according to the PNAC.
    The strategic “transformation” of the U.S. military into an imperialistic force of global domination would require a huge increase in defense spending to “a minimum level of 3.5 to 3.8 percent of gross domestic product, adding $15 billion to $20 billion to total defense spending annually,” the PNAC plan said.

    “The process of transformation,” the plan said, “is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event—like a new Pearl Harbor.”

    American Free Press asked Christopher Maletz, assistant director of the PNAC about what was meant by the need for “a new Pearl Harbor.”

    “They needed more money to up the defense budget for raises, new arms, and future capabilities,” Maletz said. “Without some disaster or catastrophic event” neither the politicians nor the military would have approved, Maletz said.

    The “new Pearl Harbor,” in the form of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, provided the necessary catalyst to put the global war plan into effect. Congress quickly allocated $40 billion to fund the “war on terrorism” shortly after 9-11.

Le sergent de l’US Army Donald Buswell risque la dégradation et la cour martiale en raison de la rédaction de messages « déloyaux ». Pourtant, ayant participé à la guerre d’Irak, le sergent Buswell avait été blessé et avait reçu à ce titre la Purple heart, prestigieuse décoration militaire (photo : remise de la médaille). Il était, depuis, analyste militaire au fort Sam Houston au Texas. Son crime ? Avoir envoyé un email dans lequel il s’interrogeait sur la version officielle des attentats du 11 septembre 2001. Dans un message en réponse à un spam portant sur le 11 septembre, le sergent Buswell a remis en cause la version officielle de l’attentat ayant touché le Pentagone et sur ce qui était arrivé au vol 93 qui s’est écrasé en Pennsylvanie. Il estimait qu’il fallait demander la création d’une nouvelle commission d’enquête indépendante prêt à examiner toutes les options possibles sur les évènements de ce jour. Le lendemain, Donald Buswell découvrait qu’il n’avait plus accès à son bureau et qu’une enquête était ouverte sur lui. Interrogé sur ce point par la revue en ligne Iconoclast Online, le Colonel Green et le Major Escobar, à l’origine de la procédure disciplinaire n’ont pas commenté leur décision.

Dans le courrier envoyé par le sergent Buswell, il n’était nullement fait mention d’une complicité de l’US Army ou du gouvernement états-unien dans les attentats. Mais aujourd’hui, la simple évocation de doutes sur la version officielle des attentats du 11 septembre apparaît comme une trahison. Et même la présentation des échecs de la Coalition en Irak est jugée anti-patriotique. Ainsi, le 29 août 2006, Donald Rumsfeld a critiqué la presse états-unienne, pourtant coutumière de l’autocensure, jugée trop défaitiste.

- All the lies from the Bush administration is the main reason for all the conspiracy theories, says NRK-veteran Jahn Otto Johansen.

One of the most debated; why did WTC 7 collapse?

- This is not something that just could have happened, there are too many incidents. You can't even conclude that the administration let it happen, you have to conclude they made it happen, says Michael Berger.

Strange. Suspicious. That's how spokesman for 9/11 Truth feels about September 11th. And he has a lot of supporters, on both sides of the Atlantic. Here in Norway, Le Monde Diplomatique, wrote about the 9/11 conspiracy theories in their last monthly edition.

9/11 Truth is a voluntary organisation which "seeks answer on behalf of the families left behind and the American people, questions which deserve to be answered". About 5000 people receive their news letters, and last month, 750 showed up at a conference held in Chicago. Due to limited resources, only the general manager gets paid.

- This is an important cause - a turn over for the USA - so we have to do something, says Berger when questioned why he dedicates so much time without pay.

From their point of view, 9/11 Truth and their supporters are fighting for independence, truth and the American Constitution, against corruption and lies served from both the political elite and private industry.

Others see them as lunatics who can't handle the facts. They are conspiracy theorists.

- "September 11th could not only have been incompetence from the Government, it has to be more. We spend billions and trillions on our defence, and we can't even prevent a plane from crashing into The Pentagon, more than 1 hour and 20 minutes after they were hijacked? The Pentagon, which is 10 minutes away from an Air Force Base?" asks Berger.

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
According to Berger, many Americans have unanswered questions on what happened before, during and after September 11th and who really arranged the attacks, even after the Commission presented their final report. The Commission did not ask the tough questions, he says.

- And by not doing that, there can only be one explanation; The Commission was there to cover up 9/11, not to investigate what happened.

In addition to an insufficient investigation and the following contradictory report from the Commission, the truth seekers have a lot of questions regarding 9/11.

    * Why didn't the Government manage to prevent the attack, even after several warnings telling them that something was about to happen?

    * Why were none of the 4 airplanes interecepted by fighter jets?

    * Why was the Air Force busy with War Games that day?

    * Why were there unusual stock market trades on many of the affected companies prior to 9/11?

    * Why did the Twin Towers collapse?

      And even more important; why did the 47 story tall WTC7 collapse, even though no airplane hit that building?

And there is a lot more that is suspicious, if you're willing to find it. During our 1 hour call to Berger he talks about both actions and statements that contradict to the official explanation.

He first got suspcious 18 months after the attacks when he accidentaly found a site on the internet where they were talking about 9/11.

- First I thought they were mad. But in one of the posts I read about the unusual stock trades. It was just like someone knew before it happened. I investigated it and found it to be true. And from that point I started to go deeper and found more and more, says Berger.

FIREMAN
Let's concentrate on one important argument the conspiracy theorists mention again and again: How could the buildings collapse, and especially WTC7?

- Building 7 is the smoking gun here, says Berger and wonders why the building even collapsed and why they didnt investigate it.

Last year they published statements from 503 fireman and paramedics who were at work on 9/11. And those statements really turned on the heat for the 9/11 Truth-movement. Some of them mentioned things that suggest the buildings were taken down instead of collapsing.

    Interviewer: How did you know the building was going to collapse?

    Paramedic Daniel Rivera: That sound…

    Interviewer: What sound? Did you see anything?

    Rivera: This terrible sound, first I thought it was - you know when they pull a building when they put charges on each floor and you hear pop-pop-pop, it was just like that. When I heard that sound, thats when the building started to collapse.

    Fireman Stephen Gregory says that he saw many flashes at the lower part of the building, far from the fire, just before the building started to collapse. The man next to him saw the same thing, according to Gregory.

    - You know, when they take down a building by controlled demolition? That's what it looked like, says Gregory.

The controversial Professor of physics, Steven E. Jones at Brigham Young University in Utah, is one of those who says he can prove that the Twin Towers did not collapse because of the impact and following fire. In his investigations, he claims to have found that the temperature in the melted steel from the basement of the buildings had to be more than 1500 degrees. These temperatures lasted for several weeks, and that is not possible based on fire from fuel only, says Jones. Jones' explanation? Someone placed thermite explosives and controlled the collapse.

MANY ARE SUSPICIOUS
On both sides of the Atlantic there have been alternative explanations on what happened September 11th since day one. These explanations have led to serious doubts of the US Government's official explanation. According to a poll from Zogby International in May 2006, 1200 people all over the USA were asked, the results must be devastating for the US Government:

    * 42% say that the Commission covered up, or refused to investigate important evidence which could contradict the official explanation

    * 45% say that there should be another investigation - and this time include the question whether the Bush Administration could have participated in the attacks

    * 55% were not satisfied with the media coverage of the unanswered questions asked by the families left behind after 9/11
    * 43% did not know that WTC7 also collapsed and 38% said that it should have been investigated

    * A similar poll was arranged in Germany 3 years ago, and the Germans were even more sceptical than the Americans. 19% - almost 1 of 5 - thought that the US Government could have been responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

A PRODUCT CREATED BY SOCIETY'S FEAR
The numbers above do not prove anything, of course. Maybe except the society's insecurity and in despair searching for alternative explanations in catastrophic incidents.

- There have been lots of conspiracy theories, says the commentator of foreign affairs and NRK-veteran, Jahn Otto Johansen. - When you are surprised by something, when you are not prepared and when something can be hard to explain, then you will have conspiracy theories.

History is full of them, and most of them are crazy. Did Neil Armstrong walk on the moon, or was it a fake video produced by Stanley Kubrick in the Nevada desert? Elvis is still alive. Who killed JFK? A poll from 1991, almost 4 decades after the assassination, show that 73% of Americans believe there was a conspiracy. And was it British intelligence that killed Princess Diana?

- Today we are very afraid and insecure about the future, that's why many believe the most insane theories. For instance, the jews got out of the World Trade Center before they collapsed, which is pure nonsense. Just like the other conspiracy theories, like (...) that the US Government was behind September 11th. There is no supporting evidence for either of these , says Johansen.

The key word, says Johansen, is fear. When people are afraid, most of them don't have a "intellectual immune system" good enough to resist the conspiracy theories.

- The problem is, says Johansen, that those who believe the conspiracy theories, hang on to them even after professional examination and documented rejection.

The reason why so many Americans believe that their Government was behind 9/11, according to the Zogby poll, is because of the Bush administrations bad credibility, Johansen thinks.

- It has something to do with the Bush administration - like Tony Blair - they have lied so many times about Afghanistan and Iraq, that's why we have all the conspiracy theories.

FASCIST STATE
Berger, on the other side, is fed up with being called a conspiracy theorist.

- The debate is focused on giving each other names. My answer to all those who see us as conspiracy theorists is: if you want a debate, lets focus on the facts.

Berger is also frustrated over some conspiracy theorists. Those who do not know enough and believe each and every explanation. They give the conspiracy theorists a bad reputation and make us look like lunatics, Berger says.

For Berger and the rest of the 9/11 Truth organisation, this is something they will not give up. They won't settle down until they have the real truth.

And they want a new investigation, this time including the families left behind, the firemen and the regular men and women as commission members.

- If we don't get to know the truth, we will end up with a fascist dictatorship run by private industry. We are not anti-Bush, we just feel the system is corrupt. They tell us what we need to know, in order to justify the war and restrictions of civil rights.

And Berger is worried about restrictions of civil rights. At the end of his call with Aftenposten.no, he says:

- It is getting real bad. next year we might not be able to have such a conversation. Thats why it is so important to present the truth.

  - Dette er ikke noe som bare kunne ha skjedd. Det er for mange tilfeldigheter. Man kan ikke en gang konkludere at administrasjonen lot  det skje, man må konkludere at administrasjonen fikk det til å skje, sier amerikaneren Michael Berger.

Rart. Mistenkelig. Det synes pressetalsmann for organisasjonen 9/11 Truth at 11. september 2001 var. Han får støtte av utallige andre, på begge sider av Atlanterhavet. Her i Norge ble det skrevet om konspirasjonsteoriene som florerer i siste utgave av månedsavisen Le Monde Diplomatique.

9/11 Truth er en frivillig organisasjon som "forsøker å få svar på de spørsmålene ofrenes familier og det amerikanske folk fortjener å få svar på." Rundt fem tusen personer abonnerer på nyhetsbrevet deres, og i forrige måned dukket 750 personer opp på en konferanse organisasjonen arrangerte i Chicago. Med få finansielle midler, er det kun direktøren som hever lønn.

- Dette er en viktig sak - et vendepunkt for USA - så vi må gjøre noe, svarer Berger på spørsmål om hvorfor han dedikerer hele årsverk til organisasjonen, uten å få lønn.

I egne øyne kjemper 9/11 Truth og deres sympatisører for frihet, sannhet og den amerikanske grunnloven, mot korrupsjon og løgner servert fra både den politiske elite og det private næringsliv.

I andres øyne er de sære gærninger som ikke klarer å akseptere fakta. De er konspirasjonsteoretikere.

- 11. september kan ikke ha vært kun inkompetanse fra administrasjonens side. Det må være mer. Vi bruker billioner og trillioner på forsvar, og vi kan ikke en gang stanse et fly fra å treffe Pentagon mer en én time og tjue minutter etter at det ble kapret? Pentagon, som ligger ti minutter unna en luftforsvarsbase? spør Berger.

Ubesvarte spørsmål

Mange amerikanere sitter med ubesvarte spørsmål om hva som egentlig skjedde før, under og etter 11. september, og hvem som egentlig stod bak angrepet - også etter at granskingskommisjonen kom med sin rapport, ifølge Berger. Kommisjonen stilte ikke nok ubehagelige spørsmål i sin etterforskning, hevder han.

- Siden kommisjonen ikke stilte de spørsmålene, kan det bare være én forklaring, og det er at kommisjonen var der for å skjule sporene, ikke for å etterforske hva som skjedde.

# Hvorfor var det uvanlige bevegelser på børsen, inkludert mange av selskapene som hadde kontorplass i Tvillingtårnene, uka før 11. september?

# Hvorfor kollapset Tvillingtårnene?

# Og enda viktigere, hvorfor kollapset det tredje tårnet, en 47-etasjers skyskraper under navnet World Trade Center 7, selv om bygningen ikke var truffet av noe fly?

Og man kan finne mer, mye mer, som kan virke mistenkelig, om man bare vil finne det. I den omtrent timelange samtalen Aftenposten.no hadde med Berger snakket han i både dybde og bredde om hendelser og uttalelser han mener motsiger den offisielle forklaringen på 11. september.

Selv ble mistanken hans vekket omtrent halvannet år etter den skjebnesvangre dagen, da han ved en tilfeldighet snublet over en nettside som debatterte konspirasjonsteoriene.

- Jeg trodde først at de var gærne. Men i ett av debattinnleggene ble de uvanlige børstallene nevnt. Det var akkurat som om noen hadde visst om det på forhånd. Jeg sjekket det ut, og fant ut at det stemte. Jeg begynte å undersøke mer og mer rundt det, og fant mer og mer som ikke stemte, sier Berger.

Brannmenn

Men la oss stanse opp ved ett av argumentene konspirasjonsteoretikerne nevner igjen og igjen: Hvordan kunne bygningene falle, og hvorfor i all verden kollapset Word Trade Center 7?

- Bygning 7 er den rykende pistolen i denne saken her, sier Berger og undrer hvorfor bygningen raste i det hele tatt, og spesielt hvorfor kollapset ikke er blitt etterforsket mer.

Etter at uttalelsene fra 503 brannmenn og ambulansepersonell som var på jobb 11. september ble offentliggjort i fjor høst, har 9/11 Truth-bevegelsen fått mer bensin på bålet. Rivera: Det var en fordømt lyd. Først trodde jeg det var en – har du noen gang sett profesjonell nedrivning der de setter ladningen på bestemte gulv og du hører "pop, pop, pop, pop, pop"? Det var akkurat slik – derfor trodde jeg det var det. Da jeg hørte den fordømte lyden, det var da jeg så bygningen rase sammen.

Brannmann Stephen Gregory forteller i uttalelsen sin at han så mange lysglimt i den nedre delen av den ene bygningen, langt under der det brant, rett før skyskraperen raste sammen. Mannen ved siden av ham la også merke til lysglimtene, ifølge Gregory, og begge syntes det var snålt.

- Du vet hvordan det ser ut når de river en bygning? Det var det jeg trodde jeg så, sier Gregory i uttalelsen.

Den kontroversielle fysikkprofessoren Steven E. Jones ved Brigham Young universitetet i Utah er en av dem som hevder han kan bevise at Tvillingtårnene ikke kollapset på grunn av flyene. I sine undersøkelser hevder han at han har funnet at temperaturen i det smeltete metallet fra tårnenes kjelleretasjer under ruinene – som skal ha glødet flere uker etter angrepet – måtte ha vært mer enn 1500 grader. At slike temperaturer skal ha vedvart i ukevis kan ikke skyldes brensel eller brann, hevder Jones.

Jones’ forklaring? Et termittlignende sprengstoff tilsatt svovel er blitt brukt. Noen kontrollerte rivingen av bygningene med forhåndsplasserte sprengstoffer.

Mange mistenksomme

På begge sider av Atlanterhavet har alternative forklaringer på 11. september vokst frem siden dag én. Disse har etter hvert sådd tvil om den amerikanske administrasjonens offisielle forklaring. Om man skal tro en meningsmåling bestilt av 9/11Truth og utført av byrået Zogby International i mai i år, der 1200 personer fra hele USA ble spurt, må resultatet være nedslående for amerikanske myndigheter:

# 42 prosent mente granskningskommisjonen dekket over eller nektet å granske viktige bevis som kunne motsi den offisielle forklaringen.

# 45 prosent mente at 11. september burde etterforskes på nytt – og denne gangen inkludere spørsmålet om Bush administrasjonen kunne ha bevisst bidratt til angrepene.

# 55 prosent var ikke fornøyde med pressedekningen av de uløste spørsmålene til ofrenes familier.

# 43 prosent visste ikke at World Trade Center 7 også raste sammen, mens 38 prosent mente at denne bygningens kollaps burde ha vært gransket.

En lignende meningsmåling ble utført i Tyskland for litt over tre år siden, og tyskerne var enda mer skeptiske enn amerikanerne. Hele 19 prosent – altså nesten en av fem - mente at den amerikanske regjeringen kunne ha vært ansvarlige for angrepene 11. september.


- Et produkt av samfunnets redsel

De ovennevnte tallene beviser selvfølgelig ingenting, bortsett fra kanskje dagens samfunns usikkerhet og følgende fortvilte griping etter alternative forklaringer på katastrofale hendelser.

- Det er en gammel sak dette med konspirasjonsteorier, sier utenrikskommentator og NRK-veteran Jahn Otto Johansen.

-Når en ting kommer overraskende, når man ikke er forberedt på det og når det kan virke uforklarlig, da oppstår det veldig lett konspirasjonsteorier.

Historien er full av konspirasjonsteorier, de aller fleste vanvittige. Var Neil Armstrong på månen, eller var hele oppstyret kun basert på en falsk videofilm laget av Stanley Kubrick i Nevada-ørkenen? Elvis lever. Hvem stod egentlig bak drapet på John F. Kennedy (en meningsmåling utført i 1991 viste at 73 prosent av amerikanerne, nesten fire tiår etter attentatet, fortsatt trodde presidenten var blitt utsatt for en konspirasjon). Og var det den britiske etterretningstjenesten som drepte prinsesse Diana?

- I dag er vi veldig usikre og redde for fremtiden, og da er det mange som kjøper de mest vannvittige konspirasjonsteorier. Blant annet at jødene kom seg ut av World Trade Center før det falt, som er rent tøv og sprøyt. Likesom alle de andre konspirasjonsteoriene, blant annet (...) at den amerikanske regjeringen stod bak 11. september. Det finnes ikke grunnlag for noe av det, sier Johansen.

Nøkkelordet, tror Johansen, er frykt. Når mennesker er redde, har de fleste ikke et "intellektuelt immunsystem" godt nok til å motsette seg konspirasjonsteoriene.

- Problemet er at de som tror på konspirasjonsteoriene, fortsetter å tro på dem til tross for faglig gjennomgang og dokumentert tilbakevisning.

At så mange amerikanere - skal vi tro ovennevnte meningsmåling - tror administrasjonen kan ha hatt en bevisst finger med i spillet den 11. september for fem år siden, tror Johansen kan ha noe med regjeringens dårlige troverdighet.

- Det har noe med at Bush-administrasjonen – i likhet med Tony Blair – har løyet så mye om Afghanistan og spesielt Irak at det skaper grobunn for konspirasjonsteoriene.

- Fasciststat

Berger på sin side er lei av å bli kalt en konspirasjonsteoretiker.

- Debatten er fokusert på å kalle hverandre navn. Mitt svar til alle som kaller oss konspirasjonsteoretikere er: Hvis dere vil ha en debatt, la oss fokusere på fakta, sier han.

Berger er også frustrert over de han mener er de uopplyste konspirasjonsteoretikerne. De som svelger absolutt alle alternative forklaringer og ikke filtrerer informasjonen. De gir konspirasjonsteoretikerne et dårlig rykte og får folk som han til å fremstå som gærninger, sier han.

For Berger og resten av 9/11 Truth-gjengen er dette en sak de føler de må finne ut av. De vil ikke gi seg før de finner en sannhet de kan slå seg til ro med.

Og de vil ha en ny etterforsking, denne gang med ofrenes familier, brannmennene og menn i gata i kommisjonen.

- Hvis vi ikke får vite sannheten, komme vi til å ende med et fascistisk diktatur styrt av private selskaper. Vi er ikke anti-Bush, vi synes bare at hele systemet er korrupt. De forteller oss hva de må få oss til å tro for å rettferdiggjøre krigen og innskrenkningen av borgerrettighetene.

Nettopp innskrenkningen av amerikanernes borgerrettigheter bekymrer Berger, sier han mot slutten av samtalen med Aftenposten.no.

- Det begynner å bli så ille. Om et år fra nå kan vi kanskje ikke ha en slik samtale som vi nettopp har hatt. Derfor er det viktig å få frem sannheten.

9/11TRUTH: I USA er stadig flere amerikanere overbevist om at myndighetene skjuler sin deltakelse i katastrofen 11. September. Vitneutsagn som i flere år var hemmeligstemplet viser nå at det kan ha vært en kontrollert nedrivning som fant sted. USAs regjering hadde lenge ventet på en slik hendelse – slik det
republikanske dokumentet Rebuilding Amercia’s defenses fra 2000 påpeker. Organisasjonen 9/11Truth mener det er sannsynlig at USA arrangerte en slik katastrofe for å skaffe påskudd til å invadere Irak og Afghanistan, samt legge begrensninger på borgerrettighetene i USA med innføringen av The Patriot Act.
Det er nå dessuten kommet fram at USAs øverste militærledelse i 1962 laget en plan for et arrangert angrep på amerikanere, deriblant å skyte ned et passasjerfly, for så å legge skylden på Kuba. Så hvorfor skulle det samme være utelukket i dag? truffet av flyene. Politimennmente det så ut som «planlagt

Det så ut som om de fant sted hele veien rundt som et belte, alle eksplosjonene». Assisterende brannkommisjonær Stephen Gregory hevdet følgende: «Jeg så gjentakende lysglimt på den nedre delen av bygningen. Du vet, som når de river ned et bygg?»4

Et annet kontroversielt vitneutsagn kom fra rengjøringsassistenten William Rodriguez som jobbet i
Nordtårnet den 11. september. I et intervju med New York
Magazine5 hevder han at han først hørte en stor eksplosjon
da han befant seg i kjelleren i skyskraperen og var vitne
til at det dukket opp rammede med skinnet brent av armene fra heissjakten. Etter eksplosjonen i kjelleren hørte han en ny ovenfra. Det var et Boeing 767. Williams var den siste levende personen som ble reddet ut av branntomten ved World Trade Center. Han ble regnet som en helt og fikk besøke Det hvite hus og president George Bush. It has now emerged that the America’s most senior military leader in 1962 devised a plan for a premeditated attack on Americans, which would have involved shooting down a passenger plane, so that the blame could be cast on Cuba. So why should this be excluded today? Many also believe that Pakistani intelligence cooperated with the CIA and Al-Qaida because the former transferred significant sums of money to the hijacker Mohammed Atta in the days leading up to the 11th of September. They even had Bin Laden under surveillance during the time of his treatment in a military hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan in September 2001.

Most of us would think it strange if the impact of a passenger plane wasn’t sufficient to cause a skyscraper to collapse. So there were few who doubted what it was that hit the Twin Towers on the 11th of September 2001 or the identities of the perpetrators. However, in the intervening years, several individuals and groups, both in North America and in Europe, began to doubt whether this necessarily constitutes accuracy. For them, a set of contradictory circumstances surrounding the attacks do not correspond with the explanations of the American authorities and the Congress-appointed 9/11 Commission. A key reason for this doubt could be that there are witnesses and participants in September 11th who describe events that do not tally with events in the official story. An example is provided by onlookers who heard and saw what they believed to be explosions around the Twin Towers before they were struck by the planes. Policemen thought it looked like “planned implosion”. Fireman Richard Banaciski reported that: “It seemed like on television when they blow up these buildings. It seemed like it was going all the way around like a belt, all these explosions.” Assistant Fire Commissioner Stephen Gregory claimed:

    “I saw a flash flash flash [at] the lower level of the building. You know like when they demolish a building?” – Assistant Fire Commissioner Stephen Gregory

Another controversial witness statement came from maintenance worker, William Rodriguez who was working in the North Tower on the 11th of September. In an interview with New York Magazine he claimed that he first heard a huge explosion when he was in one of the sub-basements of the skyscraper and witnessed the appearance of victims, the skin burnt off their arms by fires in the lift shaft. After the explosion in the sub-basement he heard another one from above. It was a Boeing 767. Williams was the last survivor to be rescued from the World Trade Center’s Ground Zero. He was hailed as a hero and invited to visit George Bush and the White House. Later, when he attempted to publicise his story about the sub-basement explosion, it was rejected by the American authorities. He has now filed a lawsuit against these same authorities under the RICO Statute, a legal ruling originally designed to prosecute Mafia families.

Besides witness statements describing a controlled demolition of the Twin Towers with explosives, critics of the Bush administration believe there are several sets of circumstances around September 11th that give good reason to suspect the official story is incorrect. It is a fact that none of the four hijacked planes were intercepted by fighter planes. That this did not happen, combined with the fact that the majority of the air force was engaged in military exercises, has given weight to suspicion that the American air defense force gave the order to “stand down” so that the terrorist attacks could proceed unhindered. Another suspicious circumstance is that WTC 7- also known as Building 7 – a 47-storey skyscraper, collapsed without having been hit by any of the planes. Conversely, the buildings that stood adjacent are still intact.

When it comes to any forewarning of the attacks, claims that the NSA monitored fully translated conversations in the summer of 2001 – in real-time – between Mohammed Atta and Khalid Shaikh Mohammed have raised concern. In one of the conversations, Atta purportedly gave Mohammed the green light for the attacks; NSA therefore should have been forewarned.

FBI-agent Colleen Rowley claims that the FBI’s directors intentionally obstructed her investigation of Zacarias Moussaoui In relation to investigation that could have led to the apprehension of the hijackers, FBI agent Colleen Rowley claims that the FBI’s directors intentionally obstructed her investigation of Zacarias Moussaoui – at the time he was attending flight school in Minneapolis. They did this despite having received warnings from French intelligence. Rowley believes that, had the FBI approved the investigation, they could have uncovered Moussaoui’s plans as well as those of several other hijackers enrolled in flight schools. It may also seem suspicious that George Bush has maintained that American authorities have stepped down the hunt for Osama bin Laden, the main suspect behind September 11th. General Richard Myers also stated that the war in Afghanistan was not about finding bin Laden. A former CIA agent, Gary Berntsen, has furthermore claimed that the Bush administration let bin Laden escape when he was cornered in a pocket of the Tora Bora mountains in Afghanistan in 2001. It is also known that American intelligence were fully aware of bin Laden’s whereabouts as early as July 2001 when he was treated for a kidney condition at an American hospital in Dubai, The United Arab Emirates. A few months later in September, he also received treatment in a military hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan under the surveillance of Pakistani intelligence.

THE EXISTENCE OF CIRCUMSTANCES and witness accounts that contradict aspects of the official story has led some individuals and groups to search for alternative explanations for what happened on the 11th of September 2001. Consequently, a veritable jungle of theories about what really happened in the US five years ago has sprung up. The theories unfurl in a several, interconnected directions. A comparison of different opinions is presented in the book The New Pearl Harbor – Disturbing Questions about the Bush-Administration and 9/11 (2004), by David Ray Griffin, Professor of Theology and the Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, California. A key premise he presents in the book is that the responsibility for the attacks of September 11th can, to a large extent, be attributed to former members of the Neo-Conservative think tank Project for a New American Century (PNAC), who are now key players in the Bush administration. In the document Rebuilding Amercia’s defenses: strategies, forces and resources for a New American Century (2000), written by PNACs members, it is claimed that:

    “Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor”.

The title of Griffin’s book refers to PNAC’s statement the transformation of the American military necessitated “a new Pearl Harbor”. Griffin looks at this quotation in the light of the legal principle of the profit motive, or qui bono and concludes that September 11th was precisely the catalyst the Bush administration needed. For Griffin, it is therefore probable that the US orchestrated an incident of this type in order to justify the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the curtailment of civil liberties in the US through the introduction of The Patriot Act. That they have chosen to invade countries in the Middle East he regards as simply an extension of the cooperation the US already had with the power elite in Saudi Arabia, the Pakistani Intelligence (ISI), the Taliban regime and regimes in Central Asia. And for Griffen, the agenda in the Middle East and Central Asia is quite clear: it is about controlling both the production and transportation of oil via pipes and tankers. Griffin does not point to any specific figures responsible for arranging the September 11th attacks. He states only that there are different opinions about this issue. For some, speculation about the identity of those responsible surrounds intelligence agencies like the NSA, FBI and CIA. Others believe it was the White House. A third group believe that is was individual figures like Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Jeb Bush, George Tenet and Donald Rumsfeld who were the real architects of the attacks. Alternatively, other possible combinations of perpetrators and organisations may have worked together. In his paper, “What is your ‘HOP’level?” Nicholas Levis categorises opinions on the attacks under four main headings:

a) The Official Story: That Osama bin Laden was responsible, that the planes were hijacked by 19 Muslim fundamentalists and that the White House did not receive any warning.

b) Incompetence Theory: Accepts the official history but blames the White House, FBI, CIA, NSA and others for not following up the many warnings. This was the line taken, with a great deal of cover-up and spin, in the 9/11 Commission’s report.

c) LIHOP (“Letting It Happen on Purpose”): There are a number of variations on this one. Is mainly about how factions within the American authorities and the private sector were aware of the hijackers’ plans but did nothing to stop them, since September 11th was in line with political objectives.

d) MIHOP (“Making It Happen on Purpose”): US authorities or private forces planned and carried out the attacks.

For the sceptics, the common denominator is their belief that at least one of the elements of the official presentation of September 11th is inaccurate. For those who subscribe to the radical MIHOP hypothesis, a key premise is that the Twin Towers – including Building 7 – collapsed as a result of controlled demolition with explosives; that it was an inside job. The technical/construction part of this claim has however been directly refuted in a report of approximately 10,000 pages written by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), who claim that it was fuel from the passenger planes that disturbed the structure of the towers and that it was this that eventually caused them to collapse. NIST is unable to offer a satisfactory explanation as to why the third building collapsed, WTC 7, did so without having been struck by a plane. Professor of physics at Brigham Young University in Utah, Steven E. Jones, rejects NIST’s claims about the Twin Towers (see also Greig’s article). He relates, for example, how eyewitnesses had observed that steel from all three skyscrapers had melted, (in some cases, the steel was found glowing three weeks after the attack) and was twisted in a way that can only have been caused by what he describes as pre-positioned “cutter charges”. According to Jones, these charges consisted of thermate, HMX or RDX, and these are only used in explosives that are used in controlled demolitions. Another important point for Jones is that the fires in the buildings and the fuel from the passenger planes, (the maximum temperature for airplane fuel is 1000 degrees Celsius) did not produce sufficient heat to melt the steel – which would require temperatures of between 1550-1990 grader Celsius – within the 1-1½ hours it took the Twin Towers to collapse.. Jones’ claims are supported by the data engineer Jim Hoffman. After video and photo analysis of the events, Hoffman concludes that all three buildings fell almost symmetrically, at close to freefall speed and directly downwards onto their own foundations. According to Hoffman therefore, the speed of the collapse, the pulverisation of the concrete to a “milky” powder and the presence of horizontal dust clouds observed alongside WTC 7 are associates with the use of pre-positioned explosives in buildings.

MANY NO LONGER BELIEVE the official explanation, but are convinced that the Towers’ collapse was an inside job – either that the authorities “let it happen” or “made it happen”. Many who put their trust in other hypotheses, have joined forces with the umbrella organisation 9/11Truth. – an ad hoc organisation, formed to exist until the last unanswered question about September 11th has been answered. 9/11Truth has brought together a cross-section of society; members with different political allegiances manage the same organisations and lobby groups. This cooperation is mainly concentrated on meetings, demonstrations, the production of documentary films, Internet fora, online publications and conferences. In the UK, a local branch of 9/11Truth has been set up called JulySeventhTruth, so called as it seeks to piece together what happened during the terrorist attacks in London on the 7th of July 2005.

9/11Truth poses questions about why no fighter planes managed to intercept the four hijacked planes. 9/11Truth searches for the answer to whether or not the Bush administration is lying when it says they had no foreknowledge of the terrorist attacks. And as to whether intelligence agencies like the FBI, CIA and NSA deliberately failed to investigate leads and dismissed evidence that could have identified the hijackers before September 11th. 9/11Truth organised a major conference entitled “9/11 Revealing The Truth/ Reclaiming our Future” in Chicago between the 2nd and 4th of June. Every day, the media spokesman for NY9/11Truth, Les Jamieson is in southern Manhattan,where each Sunday he helps to arrange demonstrations at Ground Zero or seminars in St. Mark’s Church, made available by priest, Frank Morales. Jamieson made the following responses to questions from Le Monde Diplomatique:

– Does September 11th represent further justification to declare war?

– No. It happened before in Germany when the Reichstag was set on fire. Those responsible dressed Germans up to look like Communists and made it look as though Russians were setting fire to the German parliamentary building. The Germans did the same with Poland. They dressed prisoners to look like German soldiers and shot them. In this way, they made it look like Polish soldiers were shooting Germans – and used this as an excuse to invade Poland. And it has recently emerged that, here in the USA, the authorities planned a similarly staged operation, Operation Northwoods: A plan was devised in 1962 by the most senior-ranking military leader in the US. The plan was to arrange a terrorist attack inland, on the coast of Florida where Americans would be killed, a passenger plane shot down, a ship sunk – and all the blame would be laid on the Cubans. So this is nothing new, it’s been done before.

– How cynical can a government become?

– A lie precipitated the Vietnam War too – the events in the Tonkin Gulf. It was reported that Vietnamese torpedo boats had shot at American ships in the Tonkin Gulf. But these reports were fictitious. President Lyndon B. Johnson and foreign minister Robert McNamara exploited these reports to pass the Tonkin Gulf Resolution in Congress – which was really a declaration of war. 50,000 Americans ended up dead, hundreds of thousands tragically affected. The herbicide Agent Orange was used to poison farms and land use. This is what happens when governments and the power elite orchestrate wars. There really is a level of evil, a loathing of humanity. That’s why Henry Kissinger said once about the war between Iraq and Iran: “I hope they kill each other,” or: “Oil is much too important a commodity to be left in the hands of the Arabs.”

– Is it similarly possible to suggest that there could have been a secret group connected to the government, a “state within a state,” that planned and brought about September 11th?

– Yes. One has to remember that there are private groups of agents, private armies that exist outside Congress’ field of vision. They carry out covert operations deep inside the CIA, and have severed all contact with the American government, who for their part, have no knowledge about what is going on. This has been happening since the 50’s. When Dwight Eisenhower left his presidency he said that one should be vigilant over the overarching control of the Military-Industrial Complex. To this day, we still have a shadow government, an invisible government and we believe this one works together with elements within the intelligence agencies MI5, MI6 and perhaps Mossad. MI5 and the CIA definitely work together in translating the agenda for the international power elite.

– Are you not afraid of being labelled a conspiracy theorist?

– The term “Conspiracy Theory” must also be understood as a strategy of the mass media and individuals within the power elite to sew seeds of doubt about this kind of information. The fact is that, on the contrary, there are a range of examples of real conspiracies by the authorities. For example, the Iran-Contras affair was a result of a huge conspiracy that enabled the sale of narcotics to buy weapons for the Contras. And we have the BCCI scandal in 1991 – a massive banking scandal. There’s also the vote in Florida in 2000 and in Ohio in 2004. If one studies these things, mammoth conspiracies can be uncovered. What about all the lies that led to the invasion of Iraq? We were told that weapons of mass destruction definitely existed and that Saddam tried to buy “yellow cake” from Nigeria. It was all lies and deception. These kinds of events need a conspiracy! We put together a theory and are actually extremely stringent in finding the best possible analysis.

JAMIESON IS NOT THE ONLY ONE subscribing to such theories. The participation of many community groups and service personnel connected to 9/11Truth has generated a trail of research and articles. A group called Scholars for 911Truth describes itself as ”..a non-partisan association of faculty, students, and scholars, in fields as diverse as history, science, military affairs, psychology, and philosophy, dedicated to exposing falsehoods and to revealing truths behind 9/11. It was established by philosophy professor James H. Fetzer and professor of physics Steven E. Jones – the movement’s foremost expert on the collapse of the Twin Towers. The latter’s work will be published in September, a contribution to the anthology 9/11 & American Empire: Intellectuals Speak Out (2006). In the book, edited by David Ray Griffin and Peter Dale Scott, there is input also from Ola Tunander, professor at the PRIO – the International Peace Research Institute Oslo with the article “The War on Terror and Pax Americana” (see under).

Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed wrote one of the first books published to question the official version of September 11th – The War on Freedom: How and Why America was Attacked, September 11th, 2001 (2002). It expresses profound criticism of American foreign policy, both leading up to and subsequent to 9/11.

Paul Thompson, from Scholars for 9/11Truth, is the author of The Terror Timeline, A Comprehensive Chronicle of the Road to 9/11 and America’s Response. This is a comprehensive collection of news articles about the terrorist attacks on the 11th of September 2001. Thompson works at the Center for Cooperative Research. Another much-talked about member of Scholars for 9/11Truth is David Ray Griffin. In addition to books on theology, religion and philosophy, he wrote The New Pearl Harbour (2004) and 9/11 Commission Omissions and Distortions (2005). In the latter, Griffin highlights 115 areas where the 9/11 Commission’s report failed to evaluate important evidence or deduced fundamentally flawed conclusions from existing evidence. Griffin is also a dynamic force behind the organisation MUJCA-net – a discussion forum for Christians, Jews, Muslims and other believers who are sceptical of the official explanation for September 11th. The head of the organisation is the intellectual, doctor and imam Faiz Khan, who works at a Jewish hospital in New York. In the essay The Paralysis of Discourse; The Incompetence of Academia, and The Need for an Accurate Diagnosis, he argues that September 11th precipitated a simplification of language and ideas about what it means to be Muslim and Arab – especially when Muslims the world over are to be held responsible for actions a small minority of terrorists have carried out. Khan believes the hijackers were most probably “fake” Muslims, i.e. that they were not Muslim in their beliefs in the way that American foreign policy is American. That the blame for the terrorist attacks is attributed to something as diffuse as a “military Islamic network,” he believes, is tantamount to an abdication of responsibility by the US, since the latter worked in tandem with the ISI (Pakistani intelligence) and Saudi-Arabia to build those networks up.

IT FEELS A BIT like entering a porn site. Forbidden, exciting, something for socially misfit gloaters. So I enter www.911truth.org with the brakes on, ready to back off in shame and with a giggle. What makes me hesitate to enter the homepage of USA's biggest organization of 9/11 skeptics is the lustful concept of «conspiracy theory». For is it not just the high and stoned and very alternative who can bring themselves to believe something else than the official story of September 11? Wild radicals? Drug addicts?

No more. 70 percent of Americans in voting age doubt the official story of what happened on that day that changed the world. And that is not primarily due to government paranoia. It's simply due to the questions being too many and the official answers too poor. When they even exist, that is.

AND VERY OFTEN they don't. Considered that it is the greatest internal catastrophe of the superpower, it is strangely lacking in investigation, and always subject to strict resistance from the administration. Judicially it has hardly had any consequences at all: just one person is convicted. The 9/11 Commission has huge holes. For instance it ignores the fact that there were not just two, but three buildings that collapsed on that day, and that the third, WTC7, was not hit by a plane at all. And that it collapsed seven hours after the attack.

It is this last fact, how the towers collapsed, that is attracting the most attention at the time, and now also in the Scandinavian edition of Le Monde Diplomatique. The skyscrapers were after all constructed to withstand a plane crash. And they didn't topple over, or break, but fell nicely - and unforgettably - into their own basements. The physicist Steven E. Jones is supported by a growing number of colleagues and engineers who claim that neither the collission nor the resulting fires could destroy the gigantic steel constructs, and cause so complete and symmetrical collapses.

The only thing that can explain the collapses and the extreme temperatures in the rubble afterwards, says Jones, is a huge number of connected explosions. The kind you see when a highrise is blown away in a controlled demolition. The towers collapsed from within, not from the outside. And in that case the whole attack seems more like an inside job?

AMONG THE almost overwhelming number of unsolved mysteries of the day, are these: why did the aviation authorities break all standard procedures for hijackings, that are after all not so unusual? No fighters took off to contact and perhaps intercept the hijacked planes. The plane that hit the Pentagon was for 1 hour and 20 minutes in the best guarded airspace of the world, before it crashed into the Department of Defense.

Five of the 19 alleged hijackers, who are all supposed to be dead, are according to the BBC alive and kicking in Saudi Arabia. In the weeks leading up to the attack, all the US intelligence agencies were on high alert due to warnings of a coming, violent terror attack on American soil. Just hours after the attack the FBI stormed several of the aviation schools where the hijackers had been - how did they find them so fast? Why were the audio tapes from the flight controllers that day destroyed? Where did two of the «black boxes» from the planes found at Ground Zero, only to later disappear?

And how could Condolleezza Rice repeatedly claim that «no-one could predict that anyone would use a passenger plane as a weapon», when that same day there were military drills for that exact scenario?

And then came the Anthrax letters... And yes, it is chilling. If you want a highly explosive read this summer, you don't have to resort to any novel. Rather, you can virtually hear the hacking of the keyboards from the great contemporary American authors, who, inspired by this ocean of puzzle pieces and explosives, are writing their coming bricks. James Ellroy, I would guess. Don Delillo, for sure.

AT HOME in the sieged, warring USA, patriotism was naturally for long the biggest obstacle for a critical investigation of the attack. Here in Norway and in the rest of Europe, anti-americanism was under attack. But 2001 is now a fairly long time ago, and very much water, not to mention blood, has run to the ocean since. The USA is deeply and thoroughly split. Not many Europeans are afraid to be seen as anti-american. So now the term «conspiracy theory» does the trick, instead. It is an extremely disciplining expression, just like the sister term «politically correct». Both are thought and opinion mindstops, although not on a rational basis. Only through some sort of fear for not being fashionably blasé.

OF COURSE IT IS to hope for that those who unravel, dig up and write the real stories of September 11 will not primarily be the great American authors, but the media and the scientists. But still the fear of being labelled a conspiracy theory is hindering this from happening. Also in our part of the forest.

Plus tard, quand il tenta de donner de la publicité à son histoire d'explosion au second sous-sol, il fut rejeté par les autorités américaines. Il a maintenant entamé une poursuite judiciaire contre ces mêmes autorités sous le Statut RICO, une action judiciaire conçue à l'origine pour poursuivre les familles de la Mafia.

A côté des rapports de témoins décrivant une démolition contrôlée des tours jumelles avec des explosifs, des critiques de l'administration Bush croient il y a plusieurs ensembles de circonstances entourant le 9/11 qui donnent de bonnes raisons de suspecter la véracité de l'histoire officielle. C'est un fait qu'aucun des quatre avions détournés ne fut arrêté par les avions de combat. Cela combiné au fait que la majorité de l'Armée de l'Air étaient engagés dans des exercices militaires, donna poids au soupçon que la force de défense aérienne américaine avait donné l'ordre de « se retirer » de sorte que les attaques terroriste puissent se dérouler sans encombre. Griffin ne pointe aucun personnage spécifique responsable de l'organisation des attaques du 9/11. Il déclare seulement qu'il y a différents avis sur cette question.

Pour certains, la spéculation sur l'identité de ces responsables entoure des agences de renseignement telles que la NSA, le FBI, et la CIA. D'autres croient que c'est la Maison Blanche. Un troisième groupe croit que différents personnages comme Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Jed Bush, George Tenet, et Donald Rumsfeld, sont les vrais architectes des attaques. Alternativement, d'autres combinaisons possibles de malfaiteurs et organismes ont pu travailler ensemble. Dans son écrit, « Quel est votre niveau ‘HOP’ ? [HOP désigne les quatre catégories décrites ci-dessous] » [13] Nicholas Levis classe les opinions sur les attaques en quatre catégories principales :
- L'histoire officielle : Oussama Ben Laden est le responsable, du détournement des avions par dix-neuf fondamentalistes musulmans, la Maison Blanche n'ayant reçu aucun avertissement.

- La théorie de l'incompétence : Accepte l'histoire officielle mais blâme la Maison Blanche, le FBI, la CIA, la NSA, et les autres, pour ne pas avoir suivi les nombreux avertissements. C'est la ligne prise, avec une énorme affaire de dissimulation et de changements de direction, dans le rapport de la Commission du 9/11.

- LIHOP (« Laissons les Arriver au But » ) : Il y a un certain nombre de variations sur celle-ci. Il y est principalement sujet de la manière dont les factions des autorités américaines et le secteur privé se rendaient compte des plans des pirates de l'air mais n'ont rien fait pour les arrêter, puisque le 9/11 était en conformité avec les objectifs politiques.

- MIHOP (« Les Faire Arriver au But ») : Les autorités US ou les forces privées ont projeté et ont effectué les attaques.

Pour les sceptiques, le dénominateur commun est leur croyance qu'au moins un des éléments de la présentation officielle du 9/11 est inexact. Pour ceux qui versent dans l'hypothèse radicale MIHOP, un prémisse principal est que les tours jumelles -- comprenant le bâtiment 7 – s’effondrèrent par démolition contrôlée avec des explosifs : Que c'était un travail intérieur. La partie des interprétations techniques de cette déclaration fut directement réfutée dans un rapport d'approximativement 10.000 pages écrites par le National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), qui prétendit que ce fut le carburant des avions de lignes qui perturba la structure des tours et que cela les fit par la suite s’effondrer. [14] Le NIST ne peut pas donner d’explication satisfaisante sur pourquoi le troisième bâtiment, le WTC 7, s'est effondré sans avoir été heurté par un avion. [15] Steven E. Jones, Professeur de physique à Brigham Young University dans l’Utah, rejette les déclarations du NIST au sujet des tours jumelles. Il dit, par exemple, comment des témoins oculaires ont observé que l'acier de chacun des trois gratte-ciel avait fondu (dans certains cas, l'acier fut trouvé rougeoyant jusqu’à trois semaines après l'attaque) et avait été tordu d'une manière qui peut avoir été provoqué seulement par ce qu'il décrit comme des « charges de découpe » installées au préalable. Selon Jones, ces charges se composaient de thermite, HMX, ou RDX, des substances explosives utilisées seulement dans les démolitions contrôlées. Un autre point important pour Jones est que les feux dans les bâtiments et le carburant des avions de ligne (la température maximale pour le carburant d'avion est de 1000 degrés de Celsius) n'ont pas produit de chaleur suffisante pour fondre l'acier -- qui exigerait des températures entre 1550-1990 degrés Celsius -- pendant l’heure ou l’heure et demi qui a mené à l'effondrement des tours jumelles. [16] Les déclarations de Jones sont soutenues par les données de l'ingénieur Jim Hoffman. Après l'analyse de vidéos et de photos des événements, Hoffman conclut que chacun des trois bâtiments est tombé presque symétriquement, à une vitesse proche de la chute libre, et directement en bas sur leurs propres fondations. Selon Hoffman, la vitesse de l'effondrement, la pulvérisation du béton en poudre « laiteuse », et la présence de nuages de poussière horizontaux observés à côté du WTC 7, sont associées à l'utilisation d’explosifs placés à l’avance dans les bâtiments. [17]

Beaucoup ne croient plus l'explication officielle et sont convaincus que l'effondrement des tours était un travail intérieur -- soit que les autorités « ont laissé faire » soit qu’elles « l'ont fait ». Beaucoup ayant placé leur confiance dans d'autres hypothèses ont joint leur force sous la protection de l'organisation 9/11Truth [18] -- une organisation ad hoc formée pour exister jusqu'à ce que la dernière question sans réponse au sujet du 9/11 obtienne sa réponse. 9/11Truth a rassemblé un groupe représentatif de la société ; des membres avec différentes allégeances politiques dirigent les mêmes organismes et groupes de pression. Cette coopération est principalement centrée sur des réunions, des démonstrations, la production des films documentaires, des forum Internet, des publications en ligne, et des conférences. Au Royaume-Uni, une branche locale de 9/11Truth appelée JulySeventhTruth [19] a été montée. Elle est nommée ainsi parce qu'elle cherche à rassembler ce qui est arrivé lors les attaques terroristes à Londres le 7 juillet 2005.

Les Jamieson, le porte-parole médiatique de NY9/11Truth, aide chaque dimanche à organiser des démonstrations à Ground Zero ou des conférences à l'église Saint Mark, rendue disponible par le prêtre, Frank Morales. Jamieson a parlé à Le Monde diplomatique :
LMd : Le 9/11 représente-t-il une justification supplémentaire pour la guerre ?

LJ : Non. Il a récemment émergé, ici aux USA, que les autorités projetèrent la mise en scène d’une opération similaire, l’opération Northwoods : Un plan fut conçu en 1962 par les chefs militaires US de plus hauts rangs. Le plan fut d'organiser une attaque terroriste intérieure, sur la côte de Floride où des Américains seraient tués, un avion de ligne abattu, un bateau coulé -- et tout la responsabilité serait portée sur les Cubains. Ainsi cela n'a rien de neuf, cela fut fait avant.

LMd : Comment un gouvernement peut-il devenir cynique ?

LJ : Un mensonge fit aussi éclater la guerre du Viêt-nam -- les événements du Golfe du Tonkin. On signala que les torpilleurs vietnamiens avaient tiré sur des navires américains dans le Golfe du Tonkin. Mais ces rapports étaient factices. Le Président Lyndon B. Johnson et le ministre des affaires étrangères Robert McNamara exploitèrent ces rapports pour faire passer la Résolution du Golfe du Tonkin au Congrès -- en fait une déclaration de guerre. 50.000 américains sont morts, des centaines de milliers tragiquement affectés. L'herbicide Agent Orange fut utilisé pour empoisonner les fermes et l'usage de la terre. C'est ce qui arrive quand les gouvernements et l'élite au pouvoir orchestrent des guerres. Il y a vraiment un degré de malfaisance, une répugnance de l'humanité. C'est pourquoi Henry Kissinger a dit une fois au sujet de la guerre entre l'Irak et l'Iran : « J’espère qu’ils se tueront l’un l’autre », ou : « Le pétrole est un produit beaucoup trop important pour le laisser aux mains des arabes ».

LMd : Est-il de même possible de suggérer qu'il pourrait y avoir un groupe secret relié au gouvernement, un « état dans l’état », qui a projeté et a provoqué le 11 septembre ?

LJ : Oui. On doit se rappeler qu'il y a des groupes privés d'agents, des armées privées qui existent hors du champ de vision du Congrès. Ils effectuent des opérations secrètes profondément à l'intérieur de la CIA, et ont tous des contact avec le gouvernement américain, qui pour sa part, n'a aucune connaissance de ce qui se passe. Cela se produit depuis les années 50. Quand Dwight Eisenhower a quitté la présidence il a dit qu'on devrait être vigilant sur le contrôle des activités du complexe militaro-industriel. A ce jour, nous avons toujours un gouvernement de l'ombre, un gouvernement invisible et nous croyons que celui-ci collabore avec des éléments au sein des agences de renseignement, MI5, MI6, et peut-être Mossad. Le MI5 et la CIA travaillent certainement ensemble en adaptant l'ordre du jour pour l'élite du pouvoir international.

LMd : Ne craignez-vous pas d'être catalogué théoricien de conspiration ?

LJ : Le terme « théorie de la conspiration » doit aussi être compris comme une stratégie des mass media et de l'élite du pouvoir pour semer les graines du doute sur ce genre d'information. Le fait est que, au contraire, il y a un éventail d’exemples sur la vraie conspiration des autorités. Par exemple, l'affaire Iran-Contra était le résultat d'une énorme conspiration qui a permis par la vente de narcotiques d'acheter des armes pour les Contras [terroristes]. Et nous avons le scandale de la BCCI en 1991 -- un important scandale d'opérations bancaires. Il y a aussi le vote en Floride en 2000 et en Ohio en 2004. Si on étudie ces choses, la gigantesque conspiration peut être découverte. Que diriez-vous de tous les mensonges qui ont mené à l'invasion de l'Irak ? Il nous a été dit que les armes de destruction massives existaient certainement et que Saddam avait tenté d'acheter le « yellow cake » du Nigeria. C'était tous des mensonges et des tromperies. Ces sortes de faits ont besoin d'une conspiration ! La version officielle du gouvernement américain sur ce qui arriva le 9/11 est une scandaleuse théorie de conspiration ; elle ne doit pas être crue ! Dans notre organisation nous sommes des détectives et des investigateurs. Nous remontons une théorie et sommes en fait extrêmement rigoureux pour trouver la meilleure analyse possible.

Jamieson n'est pas le seul à souscrire à de telles théories. La participation de nombreux groupes de communautaires et de services personnels reliés à 9/11Truth a produit une piste de recherches et d'articles. Un groupe appelé « Erudits pour 9/11Truth » se décrit comme «… une association indépendante de corps enseignants, d'étudiants, et d’érudits, dans les domaines aussi divers que l'histoire, la science, les affaires militaires, la psychologie, et la philosophie, consacrée à exposer les mensonges et à révéler les vérités derrière le 9/11. » [20] Elle fut établie par le Professeur de philosophie James H. Fetzer et le Professeur de physique Steven E. Jones -- le plus important mouvement d’experts sur l’effondrement des tours jumelles. Le dernier travail sera édité en septembre, une contribution à l'anthologie 9/11 & American Empire : Intellectuals Speack Out (eds. David Ray Griffin et Peter Dale Scott, 2006).

Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed [21] a écrit l’un des premiers livres publié remettant en cause la version officielle du 9/11 : The War on Freedom: How and Why America was Attacked, September 11th, 2001 (2002). Il exprime de profondes critiques sur la politique étrangère américaine, amenant aux suites du 9/11. Paul Thompson, des Erudits pour 9/11Truth, est l'auteur de The Terror Timeline. A Comprehensive Chronicle of the Road to 9/11. C'est une collection complète de nouvelles concernant le 9/11. Thompson travaille au Centre for Cooperative Research. David Ray Griffin (voir ci-dessus) est un autre membre parlant beaucoup des Erudits pour 9/11Truth. Griffin est aussi une force dynamique derrière le réseau d'organisation MUJCA -- un forum de discussion pour les chrétiens, les juifs, les musulmans, et d'autres croyants, qui sont sceptiques sur l'explication officielle du 9/11. La tête de l'organisation est l'intellectuel Faiz Khan, docteur et imam, qui travaille dans un hôpital juif de New York. Dans l'essai « La paralysie du discours ; L'incompétence du milieu universitaire, et le besoin de diagnostic précis », [22] il argue du fait que le 9/11 a hâté une simplification du langage et des idées au sujet de ce que signifie être musulman et arabe -- particulièrement quand les musulmans du monde entier doivent être jugés responsable des actions faites par une petite minorité de terroristes. Khan croit que les pirates de l'air étaient plus probablement de « faux » musulmans, c’est-à-dire qu’ils n'étaient pas musulmans dans leurs croyances, à la façon que la politique étrangère américaine est américaine [l’administration Bush n’est pas le peuple américain]. Il croit que reprocher les attaques terroriste à quelque chose d’aussi diffuse qu’un « réseau islamique militaire », équivaut à une abdication des responsabilité US, puisque ces derniers travaillent en tandem avec l'ISI (renseignement pakistanais) et l'Arabie Saoudite pour constituer ces réseaux.

Après avoir brutalement spiralé pour chuter de 7000 mille pieds en un peu
plus de 2 minutes, le vol American Airlines 77 (qui, d'après la FAA, n'était
pas programmé ce jour là et n'a été déclaré perdu qu'en janvier 2002!, 64
personnes, 56 victimes et pas de terroristes dans la liste officielle.
L'avion est piloté par un novice que ses instructeurs considèrent comme nul
en pilotage) redresse, vole à grande vitesse en rase-mottes, se faufile
entre une antenne et un hôtel, se cale à une altitude de 1 ou 2 mètres (!)
accélère et  percute le rez-de-chaussée du Pentagone à Washington. Les 5
batteries de missiles automatiques qui protègent le Pentagone ne réagissent
pas.  D'après des pilotes professionnels, c'est une trajectoire impossible à
effectuer sur un avion commercial civil. Le cliché du caporal Jason
Ingersoll représente l'aile ouest immédiatement après l'arrivée des camions
de pompiers, avant que la façade du Pentagone ne s'écroule quelques dizaines
de minutes après. On aperçoit un trou (de 2 ou 3 fenêtres de large) sans
qu'aucun
débris d'avion ne parsème la pelouse au premier plan ni les environs. La
version officielle affirme que ce trou est le résultat de l'impact d'un
Boeing 757 d'une centaine de tonnes (115 tonnes à plein) lancé à 800
kilomètres heures sur cette façade.



La commission d'enquête sur le 11 septembre n'a fait état ni de cette
photographie ni des articles interrogatifs qui s'ensuivirent dans la presse
internationale. Où sont donc les impacts des ailes, de la queue et des
moteurs sur la façade ? En général, parmi les crashs d'avions recensés, on
retrouve énormément de morceaux d'avions, de pièces extrêmement solides,
issues par exemple des moteurs ou du train d'atterrissage. Ici, on n'a
pratiquement rien retrouvé et les rares morceaux récupérés (axe de
compresseur de réacteur et chambre de combustion) n'appartiennent pas au
757. Dans ces crashs, on retrouve des éléments légers qui ont été éjectés,
comme des affaires des passagers, des passeports (World Trade Center), des
vêtements, des chaussures, etc. Au Pentagone, rien! Une pelouse nette! Aucun
élément à l'intérieur du cratère d'impact! Les pompiers ont été tenus à
l'écart
du lieu du crash, seules les équipes spéciales sont intervenues au contact
de l'avion fantôme. Une demi-heure plus tard, les étages se sont effondrés
sous l'incendie. Seuls des parlementaires et quelques militaires prétendent

titres de 1400 entreprises dont les actions ont chuté après les attentats.
Les 6 et 7 septembre, sur le Chicago exchange, on enregistrait 4 744 options
à la baisse sur United Airlines, et le 10, 4 516 options sur American
Airlines, soit des volumes 25 fois supérieurs à une journée habituelle.

Patriot Act". Certains parlementaires sont opposés à ce projet. Deux des
plus virulents opposants: les sénateurs Tom Dachle et Patrick Leahy
reçoivent des lettres contenant des bactéries pathogène de la maladie du
charbon. L'anthrax provenait d'un laboratoire militaire américain. Cinq
morts dont deux postiers. Aucune mise en examen, aucun suspect, aucune
arrestation, le FBI finira par détruire les échantillons d'Anthrax
récupérés... Après avoir créé un psychose et défrayé la presse, cette
histoire a disparu de la mémoire collective. En tout cas, les opposants on
été calmés et le texte a été adopté peu après.

difficile préparé en 7 jours! A moins qu'il n'était déjà près avant les
attentats? Le texte restreint énormément les droits et les libertés des
citoyens américains et renforce considérablement les pouvoirs du FBI, de la
CIA, de la NSA et de l'armée. Les USA ressemblent de moins en moins à une
démocratie.

Pourtant, d'après les enquêteurs, les boites noires n'ont jamais été
retrouvées. Une première dans l'histoire de l'aviation! D'ailleurs, aucune

qui résistent à 3400g et 1100°C) n'a pu être exploitée.

A Shanksville en Pennsylvanie, là où est réputé s'être écrasé le vol 93, le témoin déclare que le trou faisait 4 à 6 m de long, et 3 m de large. Il est censé être provoqué par le crash d'un 757 ? Zéro trace de corps, a déclaré le coroner.
